The taste profiles here are genuinely inventive. I’d never encountered food built this way, and for sheer creativity it earns full marks. We did the tasting menu, which ran about $1,300 for six. Steep, but that’s the territory for a restaurant at this level.
A few things held the experience back. The ordering process was confusing. More than once, two different servers approached us asking the same or conflicting questions, and tightening up that coordination would go a long way. Pacing was also on the slow side, with 10 to 30 minutes between courses, though the payoff made the wait feel worthwhile.
On the food itself, the concepts were exciting but a few dishes didn’t land in execution. The pani puri had no crunch, and some of the bread courses tasted off. Texture was the recurring issue, with a few dishes coming out soggier than they should have.
Being honest, this was a one-time experience for me. There wasn’t a dish I’d return specifically to eat again.

We chose the four-course dinner at Junoon, and it was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. What impressed us most was that this wasn’t simply a meal it felt like a thoughtfully curated journey through modern Indian cuisine.
Every course arrived beautifully presented, with an incredible amount of attention to detail. Before we started each dish, the staff took the time to explain what we were being served, the ingredients, flavors, and how the different elements of the plate worked together. That small touch made such a difference. Instead of simply eating one course after another, we were able to appreciate the thought and creativity behind each dish.
The food itself was excellent. The grilled dishes had wonderful char and depth of flavor, while the curries were rich, aromatic, and beautifully balanced rather than overwhelmingly heavy. The breads came out warm and fresh and were perfect alongside the main courses. Even the accompaniments felt intentional rather than like an afterthought.
One of the things we appreciated most was how Junoon takes traditional Indian flavors and presents them in a sophisticated, contemporary way without losing their identity. Some of the combinations were unexpected, but everything felt purposeful. The plating was almost too beautiful to disturb edible flowers, carefully placed garnishes, contrasting sauces and textures, and even touches of gold leaf made each course visually memorable.
Dessert was a perfect ending to the four-course experience. Just like the savory courses, the desserts were creative, elegant and beautifully presented, with different textures and flavors that made them much more interesting than a typical restaurant dessert.
The service deserves special recognition as well. The team was attentive and knowledgeable, and we never felt rushed through the courses. Their explanation of every dish added so much to the experience and showed the level of care Junoon puts into its food and hospitality.
Overall, our four-course dinner at Junoon was much more than just going out for Indian food it was an experience. From the first presentation to the final dessert, there was a clear attention to flavor, technique, presentation and service. If you appreciate Indian cuisine and want to experience it through a more refined and creative lens, Junoon is absolutely worth visiting.
A memorable evening, beautiful food, outstanding presentation, and excellent hospitality. We would definitely return.

We had a wonderful experience at Junoon NYC! The service was excellent, and the menu was beautifully curated with plenty of vegetarian options, which we really appreciated. We visited for my birthday and ordered the 4-course menu for four people. The bill came to around $500 before adding an 18% tip, which felt fair for the overall experience and quality.
The team was also very kind and accommodating with my child, and they even brought out a cake for my birthday, which made the evening feel extra special. Overall, it was a lovely spot for a celebration and a memorable dining experience!

I wish we had given due consideration to the low rating reviews. This is just pretentious "Indian" food. Too much emphasis was given to decorating what is being served and very little to the taste, quality, quantity, and service.
For clarification, this isn't a rant expecting a refund. But I feel this review might help someone who's planning their special day, as we did, and help them make their own decision. Yes, I'm not a chef, and a chef may want to make flavors subtle. However, there's no excuse for food, that too Indian food, being bland. That's exactly what this was. The apatizers were so little that we could barely tell the actual flavor. The small plates we got, namely the tandoori paneer, was bland. The mains were laal mas and achari paneer. Both were way below average. We would have been happy to even pay for the food had this place kept good quality and quantity. But given what we experienced, there's no way we can recommend this place.

Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. We came here for dinner and enjoyed the special fixed menu option for Valentine’s Day.
Course #1 (Starter): three tiny handheld bites. The first was an interpretation of Pani Puri, the second was a Saag Rota with Truffles and the third was Uthappam topped with a seaweed caviar.
Course #2 (Appetizer): we got the Smoked Chicken Vindaloo Tikka and the Tuna and Caviar Phuckha. Both were absolutely perfect, I particularly enjoyed the grilled flavor of the chicken.
Course #3 (Entree): we chose the Lobster Moilee served on a bed of coconut cream sauce along with the Xacutti Chicken, served in a gravy of coconut, tamarind and red chilies. We loved both dishes, especially the lobster which was cooked to perfection. The entrées were served with rice, daal done two different ways, crispy stringy okra and a basket of naan.
Course #4 (Palatte cleanser): A small
Dragonfruit sorbet.
Course #5 (Dessert): We chose the chocolate mousse/cake served with this frozen fruit circle which we couldn’t identify but tasted pretty interesting and we also got the sticky toffee pudding which had whole pieces of dates in them. Both desserts were fantastic.
Special shout out to the service team: we ordered some mocktails in the beginning that we absolutely hated and they were so generous to switch them out for mango lassi free of charge. On the bill they even deducted the charge for the mocktails.
We really enjoyed this Valentine’s Day dinner.
